Code Unknown (dir. Michael Haneke, 2000)

This is the beginning of a series about wine and movies. I drink a lot of wine, due to my job, and I watch a lot of movies simply because I love it. I often do these activities together — projector on with something weird freshly poured. This was basically all I did during the pandemic. Eventually, I started pair the wine with the movie I was watching… like film noir would be Jura or skin contact, anything from the 90s was acid-bomb riesling, anything by Sydney Pollack was darker-style rose. Was this due to being quarantined alone and spiraling mentally? I thought so, but post-quarantine, the pairings have still been meshing really well. And since I usually put some thoughts down post-viewing and tasting so instead of writing them on random notepads scattered around my apartments, I thought I’d do it here.

That’s kind of it. It’s simple and it makes me happy, so you can tune in if you want.
